Week-to-Week Comparison Graph(TSVB)
This section covers a week-to-week comparison
A week-to-week comparison is a time series over metrics-based data where the data at the point of time is compared to the data points exactly the offset time, an example of the offset timing could be an hour. Below given is the final snapshot of the time-series graph that you build under this section.
In this example, we are going to build an additional graph over an existing graph with an offset of one week for the data that is visualized already.
Since you are going to work on an existing time series visualization as explained in the earlier section you will edit a similar time-series graph. For creating a new TSVB refer to the preceding section
1. For making changes to the dashboard click on the “Edit” button on the top right-hand corner on the second ribbon from the top
2. All the individual visualizations should now have a tool button on the top right-hand corner for making changes to the visualization. Click on the “Tool button” and then click on the “Edit Visualization”
3. Once you click on the “Edit Visualization” button, a screen will appear as given below in the snapshot, for making changes to the visualization with three sub-options (Data, Panel Options, Annotations) under the time-series graph
4. Click on the “Data” menu to explore the options with metrics and other options. Each color corresponding to the respective graph is adjacent to the name of the graph correlated in the ledger. Choose the options under each tab under metrics
5. Choose the aggregation type, field names, scale, and the corresponding grouping as per the requirements
6. Preferred settings for a time series graphs can be as configured as given below, along with the changes in the field name required to be monitored(Example to configure the monitoring of Slow query duration of Mysql in the current week is given below)
7. To insert overlaying graphs with a particular offset, click on the “Plus” button from the menu on the tab on the top right corner. The menu can also be used for hiding/unhiding the series, cloning the series, creating a new series, or deleting the series.
8. Once you click on the plus sign from the menu, a new series is ready to be configured. The settings can be adjusted as per the needs.
9. The next step is setting an offset for the time series. Click on the “Options” tab and then enter the offset that you want to plot for the time series
1w = 1 week, 1h =1 hour, etc., you can set the offset as per your requirements
10. Click on the “Panel options” tab to set the panel filter. Once you click the panel tab fill in the details about the panel filter. For the example explained in this document, the status dataset of the MySQL module is being used which would be filled in as a panel filter.
11. Once all the details have been entered click save and return on the right corner of the second ribbon from the top.
You have now created a Week-to-Week Comparison TSVB graph
